“To make open the eyes”: Colour, Bauhaus, and Cork with Katherine Boucher Beug

© Katherine Boucher Beug, Red, 2017

1pm Friday 10 November

Long Room

Arriving at Black Mountain College from the Bauhaus in 1933, Josef Albers’ stated teaching aim was “to make open the eyes.” In this closing event for the exhibition SITE OF CHANGE: Evolution of a Building, artist Katherine Boucher Beug will talk about the impact of her study and knowledge of colour and colour theory.

Free and open to all.

Katherine Boucher Beug, originally from Princeton, New Jersey, has been working from her studio in West Cork since 1971. The foundations of her work were established early; a thorough study of Josef Albers’ Interaction of Color, a passionate dedication to drawing and consistent experimentation in private journals through writing, drawing, and collage.
