Cork harbour festival will be hosting a lunchtime lecture series in collaboration with UCC history department, taking place in Crawford Art Gallery’s Lecture theatre.

‘Emerald Isles of the Caribbean?’: Tracing the lives and legacies of the Irish on Montserrat and St Croix presented by Professor Laura McAtackney.
Dr Laura McAtackney is a Professor of Archaeology attached to University College Cork’s Radical Humanities Laboratory. Her work uses landscape and material culture to explore issues of memory and heritage. She is currently leading a research project on the legacies of colonialism and slavery in the Caribbean.

Passage Landing: The National Army’s Amphibious Attack on the Cork Coast, August 1922 presented by Dr John Borgonovo.
Dr John Borgonovo is a Lecturer in the School of History at University College Cork. He has published extensively on Revolutionary Ireland. Among his publications is Atlas of the Irish Revolution (co-editor) and his monograph: The Battle for Cork: August 1922.

The Ninth Ship: The Irish Naval Service Diving Section, 1964-2014 presented by Martin Buckley.
Martin Buckley is a former Chief Petty Officer now retired from the Irish Naval Service. He served extensively with the elite Naval Service Diving Section, and is the author of The Ninth Ship: The Irish Naval Service Diving Section: An account of operations, training & the recompression chamber, 1964–2014. He has an MA in Strategic Studies from University College Cork.
