Drawing with Mary Galvin

Mary facilitates Saturday art classes in the gallery.

'My work as an artist-painter takes inspiration from the natural world.  Using a mix of my own drawings and found images I combine them forming new compositions that reflect on human interaction with nature and our attempt to control and protect it simultaneously.'

List of drawing materials:

  • Watercolour paper or any heavy-duty paper
  • Acrylic paint – any colour
  • Paintbrushes
  • Watercolour pencils
  • Spray bottle (optional)

Some tips:

  • Prepare your grounds beforehand and leave to dry. Acrylics are good, as they don’t bleed once dry.
  • Use your watercolour pencils to draw in details.
  • Use your brush to emphasise drawn lines and shapes.
