Following a series of workshops, audiences are invited to a final performance of the work. The presentation, which will be in a promenade style, will explore the responses to the spaces and Stories they have found through music, song and sound.

Two fully-booked performances of Cogarnach took place at Crawford Art Gallery on 26 November 2024. The following 15-minute video offers a flavour of a memorable project that sang to this historic building.

The Professor of Forgetting Book Launch with Greg Delanty

Thursday 24 August 5:30pm

Long Room

The Professor of Forgetting, a new collection from the acclaimed Irish poet Greg Delanty, swings back and forth on the fulcrum of what we call “now” and confronts our notion of how time passes.

From the very first poem, “Going Nowhere Fast”, which ponders whether we are now here or going nowhere, to the final selection, from which the book takes its self-reflective title, these exuberant poems chronicle what it means to be human with joy, pathos, honesty, despair, sorrow, celebration, and wit.

Structurally diverse in form, the poems also explore a range of poignant topics, including childhood, family, love, racism, the natural world, immigration, and the unavoidability of death.

About the Author

Greg Delanty was born in Cork City, Ireland, and maintains dual citizenship in Ireland and the United States, where he has lived since 1986.

LGBTQ+ Tour of Crawford Art Gallery with Candy Warhol

Thursday 3 August, 6pm & 7pm

To celebrate Cork Pride Festival, Crawford Art Gallery will host a special LGBTQ+ Tour of its exhibitions! As we continue to diversify the collection, we invite you to explore the Gallery in the heart of Cork City through an alternative lens. Drag queen Candy Warhol will guide visitors through select works and discuss LGBTQ+ contexts. The tour will feature artworks by Stephen Doyle, Breda Lynch and more! These tours will be free to attend but must be booked in advance. The tour will last approximately 45 minutes.

Hailing from Cork City, Candy Warhol has been one of Ireland's most renowned drag acts for over a decade. Candy is the mother of Mockie Ah, Ireland's leading Drag Haus. Formed in 2017 as a response to the lack of queer spaces in Cork City, the Haus has gone from strength to strength with nationwide sell-out cabarets, club-nights, music festival bookings and television appearances. In 2022, Candy appeared on BBC One's The Travel Show after Mockie Ah was named one of Ireland's top tourist attractions. Her other projects include co-presenting Comedy Central's Dragony Aunts hosting and producing Friends Of Dorothy - Ireland's No.1 queer podcast and hosting regular shows across Ireland and the UK.

This project is in support of the Night-Time Economy and funded by The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
