Create Networking Day 2019
26 September 2019

Join Create and partners Crawford Art Gallery (Cork) and Counterpoints Arts (London) for our 2019 Networking Day for Collaborative Arts. Together and with an exciting range of speakers, we will create a day of exchange and learning about those collaborative practices which operate in the interstices between socially engaged arts, community expertise, pedagogy, and politics, in order to catalyse, critique, make change and to learn.

We are delighted to announce that world-renowned socially engaged artist and activist Tania Bruguera will be in conversation with Áine O’Brien, Co-Director of Counterpoints Arts, discussing her work for the Tate Modern’s Hyundai Commission. Also joining us on the day is Cara Courage, Head of Tate Exchange, Jane Wells, Programme Manager of Tate Exchange, and four of the Tate Neighbours, who collaborated with Tania on the Turbine Hall commission. Together they will discuss collaborative and commissioning initiatives generated with and informed by community.

We are also very pleased to be joined by Hammad Nasar, Director of the Stuart Hall Foundation and initiator of 'Let Our Statues Speak' project and Sören Mesched, curator and coordinator of the recently established Concomitentes, a not-for-profit association which encourages the creation of artistic projects that are devised and commissioned by groups of citizens.

The day will feature a number of in-depth discussions and cross-sectoral conversations hosted by, among others, Miguel Amado, Director Cork Printmakers and Eve Olney of Art, Architecture and Activism.

Following the Networking Day, on the 27th of September, Counterpoints Arts will facilitate a Learning Lab; an in-depth conversation with key stakeholders and strategic players in the arts and cultural landscape who are influencing the evolving urban fabric of Cork. More details of this dynamic pedagogical platform will be announced soon.

Further speaker and scheduling announcements and booking information will follow in the coming weeks, via Create website and social media.
