Jim Buckley was born in Cork in 1957, and attended the Crawford School of Art 1975-80,studying sculpture under John Burke. In his early work, he used 'found' steel. His recent work has become more figurative. He has done large public commissions, and also makes smaller abstract constructions. He worked at the Scottish Workshop 1983-84, and has taught at the Glasgow School of Art 1983-85. He has been represented in many group exhibitions, and has had one-man shows at the Triskel Arts Centre, Cork 1980, and the Project Arts Centre, Dublin and the Crawford Gallery, Cork in 1985.
