Fascinating memories of a much-loved theatre will be recalled by teacher, author and actor Kevin N. Power in his talk on ‘The Old Opera House, My Second Home’.

Frances McCarthy, CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory, will look at the history of space flight, human exploration of the Moon and robotic explorers of the solar system in her presentation entitled ‘Space Exploration’.

Thursday 8 February
Daniela Iacopino, researcher at the Tyndall National Institute, will present ‘Nanotechnology meets art: applications of nanomaterials in art conservation and preservation’.

Thursday 15 February
The president of Cork Literary and Scientific Society, Canon George Salter, will look at a beautiful part of Ireland in his presentation on ‘North Kerry and the Ring of Kerry’.

Thursday 22 February
Karl Brady from the Underwater Archaeology Unit of the National Monuments Service will discuss ‘Diving into the Past: Archaeological Investigations of Ancient Logboats from Lough Corrib, Co. Galway’.

Thursday 1 March
Our season concludes with a talk by expert researcher Jim Herlihy on ‘Tracing your Irish Police Ancestors’.
